Job Description

NOTE:  This position can be done in our Arequipa, Peru office or remotely.  Hours are 7am - 4pm EST/6am - 3pm PET


Position Overview:
As part of both the Client Solutions and Operations teams within Questel’s Language Solutions department, this hybrid role is responsible to support the group’s Legal, Localization, and Life Sciences verticals by generating pricing estimates for clients, coordinating project requirements and setup, and providing support to project management teams from project launch through delivery.  Training and guidance will be provided and is a great way to start a career in the translation industry.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Client Solutions:

  • Budget and quote client estimates in order to win new projects while maintaining standard profit margins
  • Understand all Questel products and services while applying company pricing guidelines and models to produce accurate, competitive estimates
  • Responsible for accurately conveying client demands and requests to the Operations team
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely and service-oriented manner, both internally with sales and project managers, and externally with clients
  • Consult project managers to examine job details and goals of a project, and sales to understand client requirements and project scope
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and past clients through regular communication, outstanding customer service, providing quick and accurate project estimates.
  • Track win/loss ratios and use data to improve sales strategies and processes
  • Attend and participate in weekly department meetings
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Operations:

  • Assist Operations team with launching new projects
  • Work collaboratively across multiple teams to communicate and manage expectations during the project lifecycle, including client specifications and any rush requests
  • Preprocess files before delivery to translator to ensure complete, organized files are sent
  • Conduct post-production quality assurance checks, and clearly communicates any issues to the project manager
  • Source translation teams, administer tasks, and monitor progress on behalf of the project manager
  • Prepare final delivery packages
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date project records
  • Support Operations team with other tasks, as needed (i.e., importing/exporting files)
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure all projects have been accepted
  • Monitor group inbox and assign emails appropriately
  • Communicate to project manager any issues that might impact Questel’s relationship with clients
  • Responsible to ensure profitability of projects and to meet monthly revenue goals
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management


Education and Experience:
 

Bachelor’s degree preferred.  In addition, any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Track record using proven closing skills and the ability to build client relationships
  • A combination of business development and account management skills required
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to qualify, identify, and clarify client needs through effective questioning and listening
  • Able to analyze and synthesize information and evaluate external client needs as they correlate to Questel’s services
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and telephone skills, and ability to maintain, strengthen, and develop relationships externally and within the organization
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, using professional tone and language; tactful and diplomatic with a clear, straightforward, courteous, and cooperative manner when dealing with others
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner
  • Possesses initiative, persistence, ability to problem solve, and enthusiasm for learning
  • Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, interruptions, and unexpected events
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities

  • Willing to work occasionally during non-standard hours
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluency in another language, other than English, preferred but not required
