Alboum’s virtual interpreters provide video remote interpretation (VRI) through our platform, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and other similar platforms. Assignments primarily support schools, municipalities, and healthcare organizations. We offer both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation and seek interpreters who can support either or both modalities. Current language needs include English to:

Virtual interpreters provide foreign language interpreting to enable understanding and successful communication. Alboum’s clients primarily utilize consecutive interpretation for parent-teacher meetings, social services engagements such as a refugee family intake, and healthcare appointments. Our simultaneous interpretations range from large global health meetings with attendees from around the world to local back to school nights and county council meetings. Background materials for simultaneous assignments are provided whenever available.

• Accurate representation of technical skills and experience in virtual settings

Requirements for Position:

• Professional linguistic training and experience
• Excellent spoken English and fluency in your target languages
• Reliable and prompt
• Commitment to quality and keen attention to detail
• Positive attitude and customer-oriented personality
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to varying client needs/styles
• Comfort receiving and confirming assignments via interpretation project management platform
• Adheres to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics
• Professional interpretation training and/or interpreter certification strongly preferred

Requirements for Specific Assignments:

• Knowledge of and experience working in the Zoom interpretation module (required for simultaneous assignments)
• HIPAA compliance training and Bridging the Gap or equivalent training (required for medical assignments)
