Job Description

Global Wordsmiths is a social impact language service provider and language access advocacy organization dedicated to advancing a culture of language accessibility. We seek a full-time Translation Project Manager to work 40 hours per week managing translation projects from start to finish in a variety of domains. This includes interfacing with Global Wordsmiths’ clients, suppliers, and Translators, as well as terminology management, the management of complex projects which may involve teams, and QA. Light DTP skills are preferred but not mandatory. This position can be fully remote with occasional travel to Pittsburgh OR on-site at our Pittsburgh headquarters. 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Overseeing day-to-day translation projects, serving as a primary contact for Translators, suppliers and clients
  • File analysis, briefing, quotes, scoping and resource management throughout the translation workflow
  • Coordinating and managing the delivery of translation projects to clients, ensuring that deadlines are consistently met
  • Accountable for client relationships and quality assurance
  • Identifying new strategies, approaches, tools, and workflows for continued improvement
  • Working with DTP vendors (design skills a plus) to monitor formatting precision
  • Attending meetings as needed to discuss and clarify briefs, scope, requirements, deadlines, quotes and budgets
  • Working with suppliers and Global Wordsmiths’ finance team to process supplier and client invoices as needed
  • Working with Vendor Managers to source and manage linguists and other professionals
  • Terminology management of translation assets
  • Perform industry standard quality assurance and quality control tasks

 Requirements:

  •  3+ years of experience in Translation Project Management
  • Translation degree (BA level) or equivalent certification
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using CAT tools (Memsource-specific training will be provided if needed)
  • Detail-oriented and punctual
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication in English
  • Must be able to work independently and within a small team
  • Light DTP skills preferred but not mandatory
