We are a global company with teams in Davis, CA, Mexico City, Warsaw, Poland and beyond. This job is open to remote candidates, who are based in Mexico, Latin America, or the US.
Job Overview
The Operations Team Manager will provide support for an international team of 20+ project management professionals under the guidance of the Director of Operations and Quality. They will have around 5 Team Lead direct reports, but will be responsible for the health and stability of the whole Project Management area. The ideal candidate will be excellent at handling sensitive organizational and employee matters, have a passion for coaching, be detail oriented and rigorous when managing their daily people tasks, and have a passion for building and maintaining an empathetic, open and energized work culture. Duties and Responsibilities
Focus on people and their well-being, both short and long term. Create a positive and supportive work environment, foster collaboration and communication, and provide regular feedback and recognition.
Motivate and retain good people, identify underperformance and react accordingly.
Plan OKRs with each member of the team. Set clear expectations and goals, monitor performance and quality, and provide coaching and support as needed.
Create and maintain a holistic training program for PMs and PCs, both new hires and existing team.
Guide team members in creating their growth path. Recognize their skills that can match other roles in the company. Help your team members develop their potential and career aspirations and facilitate internal mobility opportunities.
Participate in the recruitment process, conduct interviews, and onboard new PMs and PCs.
Create an effective program for recruiting candidates in order to create and maintain a pipeline for different roles within the company through Operations.
Skills and qualifications
At least 3 years of experience managing a team, within the translation industry, with fresh eyes and an internal drive to improve.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. You should be able to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, such as clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Be a people person who understands that their role is to support and help, to be an advocate of the Project Managment team for the whole company. Meeting with people should energize and not drain you.
MUST be perfectly bilingual in Spanish and English and familiar with Mexican, US, and European cultures. Must have experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
Self-starter, being able to come up with solutions when given the right background.
A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt. You should be able to work independently as well as in a team, manage multiple tasks and priorities, and cope with changing demands.
WISH LIST: Strong knowledge of translation industry best practices, tools, and processes. You should be familiar with various types of translation projects, such as localization, transcreation, subtitling, etc.
