Computational Linguist / Machine Learning Quality Manager
My client is looking for a highly talented Computational Linguist/Machine Learning Quality Manager to maintain a quality evaluation program for their SaaS-based Machine Translation solution. These products enable monolingual customer support teams to appear multilingual, so every customer support team can talk to their customers in any language, over any channel.
The ideal candidate understands how to evaluate and score MT quality as well as expert knowledge of MT models and solutions, with some experience working with Large Language Models to include prompt engineering.
Responsibilities, in brief:
- Enhance the existing MT evaluation program by gathering data and feedback to constantly improve the quality of the MT output and assist in requirements definition, prompt engineering and testing of the multilingual bot solution.
- Work on MT domain adaptation for customers in different domains and prepare customer-specific terminology for domain adaptation tasks.
- Establish success criteria from a Machine Translation quality point of view for customers, prospects and pilot programs.
- Address quality issues and escalations and assist with prompt engineering for our multilingual copilot and chatbot solutions.
- Evaluate and compare MT systems (including LLMs) and test new MT engines based on market research, as well as work closely with the machine learning department to design and collect feedback about any R&D initiatives around translation quality and multilingual bot development & deployment.
- Educate customers and internal team members on best practices around MT quality valuations and support Sales in setting expectations with prospects around translation quality.
- Work closely with the Localization Team to build a team of linguists to evaluate MT output.
- Create and maintain internal and client-facing documentation on all processes related to translation quality and be the point of escalation for quality issues for all customers.
Requirements of the role:
- BA/BS in Linguistics/Translation and Localization Computer Science/Machine Learning or Computational Linguistics
- 3-5 years of experience in translation quality management, specifically for MT programs
- Experience developing and managing translation quality programs and a passion for machine translation solutions
- Expert knowledge of the most successful MT solutions on the market.
- Understanding of MT models and Natural Language Processing and terminology management expertise
- An advanced knowledge of regular expressions, you are driven by data and the desire to learn, grow and continuously improve
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing, high-growth environment you are also experienced in a customer-facing role
- Knowledge of a second language
