The Academy of Languages Translation & Interpretation Services is looking for a motivated Interpreter Coordinator to join our staff. This full-time position requires the ideal candidate to be detail oriented, organized and customer-service focused. We are seeking candidates with prior experience in the translation and interpretation industry who are familiar with the legal field. The Interpreter Coordinator is the interface between our clients, primarily in the legal and social services fields, and our freelance interpreters, working to ensure timely and high-quality services are rendered on a daily basis.

Main Duties:

  • Schedule legal and social services interpretation appointments
  • Coordinate appointments, issue client confirmations and interpreter work orders Process client invoices and interpreter work orders for payment
  • Process changes, cancellations and updates of interpreter schedules
  • Maintain and update client and interpreter contracts
  • Recruit new interpreters as needed, negotiate rates
  • Provide support to the Interpretation Department team as needed
  • Assist with interpreter trainings, as needed
  • Assist with medical interpretation scheduling, as needed
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings
  • Attend networking events when possible
  • Report to lead Interpreter Coordinator and General Manager


  • Share handling of phones
  • Filing, both electronic and paper
  • Database maintenance and other administrative duties as needed Assist General Manager as needed


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Translation/Interpretation or related industry
  • Ability to multitask, stay focused and work efficiently under pressure
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to improvise, research and solve issues
  • Ability to work well with clients, contractors and colleagues of diverse backgroundsKnowledge or interest in languages and cultures of the world
  • Familiarity with the US legal system is desired
  • Native-level fluency in a second language a plus


  • Office Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
  • 10 Vacation days, 6 sick days, 10 paid holidays per year
