Job Description

The Terminology & Translation Memory Specialist role is responsible to assist with the maintenance, creation and editing of linguistic resources, primarily Translation Memories (TMs) and Term Bases (TBs) in the CAT tools (memoQ and/or Trados Studio) and other related technologies. Other responsibilities include working with the requests or queries that come from internal departments related to linguistic resources or the internal TMS (Translation Management System) itself and providing relevant technical support to internal users. This role reports to the Associate Director of Localization Engineering and works closely with Questel’s Global Production Platform Team

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, maintain, and clean up Translation Memories within memoQ or Trados Studio
  • Create, edit, maintain, and clean up Term Bases within memoQ
  • Perform regular monitoring and maintenance of linguistic resources
  • Monitor and address the Technical Services Requests queue
  • Respond to queries from internal departments
  • Assist with post-processing CAT-tool projects as needed
  • Create and/or update documentation related to processes
  • Adhere to all company policies and processes
  • Focus on overarching goals and the activities with the greatest impact to achieve those goals
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience: 
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in translation or foreign languages required.  In addition
, any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Basic programming knowledge (XML in particular)
  • Proficient in how Translation Memories and Term Bases work
  • High proficiency in memoQ, Trados Studio or another CAT tool, specifically in the handling of TMs and TBs
  • Technical support experience desired
  • Great time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills essential
  • Great analytical, organizational, and soft skills
  • Highly motivated and willing to take initiative and complete assignments
  • Ability and willingness to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the needs and time of others are met and respected
  • Willing to work occasionally during non-standard hours
